A magazine art director (TIME, WOMAN’S DAY, WOMAN’s WORLD), graphic/web designer by day, I am a jewelry designer by night.  All my pieces are recycled and most have words and pearls.  I am attracted by the advertising and the graphic quality of the aluminum cans and am always looking for new things to recycle.  Last year I started working with  optometrist lenses and adding a NY/NJ theme—I am using image transfers of NJ firsts and hanging sterling silver charms of maps of NY and NJ (there are the words) and other relevant charms on these historical pendants.  This year I have begun to work with exonumia—garden state parkway  and NY subway tokens with stones set into them and  connected to each other with pearls.  

Never underestimate what you can do with simple materials that you rescue. I craft jewelry and battery-powered clocks from aluminum can cutouts, tincans, typewriters, parkway tokens, freshwater pearls and sterling silver. I hope that I can make a difference by example by showing that recycling can both influence the future and also become an art form.

And remember to buy vintage, antique, salvalge or just plain recycle (it's really all the same) and "wear" it proudly for everyone to see! You might even start a trend!
